Brian McKinney started McKinney Machine in 1954. Early in the company’s history, Herb Neitsch was hired and worked his way up from machine cleaner and floor sweeper to foreman.
In the late 1970’s, a new industrial park south of Edmonton called ‘Nisku’ was developed. Herb was eager to capitalize on the Nisku opportunity and approached Brian about opening a second McKinney shop closer to their drilling clients.
Instead, Brian encouraged Herb to branch out on his own and pursue the Nisku opportunity. Gemini Machine Works was formed and began operating in 1979.
Brian and Herb always maintained their friendship and had an excellent working relationship. This acquisition is a continuation of their legacy.
